Keep Fit and Dance Club

The Keep Fit and Dance Club has been very successful with children of all ages joining in.  As the weather gets warmer look out for our Keep Fit and Dance Club which may be taking place on the field from 8.15 a.m. on Wednesday mornings.  Feel free to join in on the field – this invitation is open to all children, staff, parents and carers. Thank you Miss Allison for leading this club every Wednesday Morning.

Parents – Be Aware

Some of our older children have access to Facebook and MSN.  Children are required to be 13 years or older to access Facebook. Please monitor what your child is putting onto social networking sites. It is a good idea to use the new blockers, making sure only known friends can access your childs images and chat walls.

However, in the past, we have had some occasions when Facebook has been used to bully others and drum up group actions against individuals.  Also be aware that Facebook and MSN are safe up to a point.  Your child  may not be communicating with the person you think they are.

We recommend that all parents monitor their children’s use of all social networking sites very carefully.

Fighting Fit

We have a very popular fitness club each Monday and Wednesday after school called 'Fighting Fit' There are classes for KS1 and KS2 children. Each child works through a fitness program and gains a 'Fighting Fit' T shirt once they achieve step one.

Mr Willis, our school governor, runs this club and is very experienced in this field. Thank you Mr Willis.

Car Parking

The parking of cars in the streets around the school continues to be an issue for us.  If you have to bring your child to school by car, please park with consideration for our neighbours.  Parents will be aware that as part of the Healthy Schools Initiative and in line with our School Travel Plan we encourage children to walk to school whenever possible.  As well as being good exercise this means fewer cars on the roads around the school.  In particular, it is very important that cars are not parked on the left hand side of the road off Hussey Road which leads to the school gate.  This is the only point of access for emergency vehicles and must not be blocked at any time.

Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

Cursive Writing

Well done to all the children for taking on a new writing scheme so well.  We would particularly like to thank parents for the support they have provided at home.  It has obviously been very worthwhile.
